In addition to creating bundles, the Bundle Builder app allows you to customize bundle pages to meet your needs and the needs of your customers. This includes the option to customize the text.

Bundle Builder is compatible with third-party translation apps, allowing your bundle pages to use multiple languages. For many merchants who sell to audiences globally, this is the most convenient method.

However, if don't want to use a third-party app, or you just want to change specific wording on bundle pages (for example, replace 'bundle' with 'gift box'), then you can do this using Bundle Builder's Translation settings.

To access these Bundle Builder's settings go to Settings > Translations.

You will see an alphabetized list of placeholder text. This is the default text used on the bundle page. You can input your own custom text in the text boxes to replace the wording on your bundle pages.

These customizable text fields are also referred to as custom labels.

You can make basic translations or translate the text into a different language. Here are some examples of custom labels that would apply if you sold gift boxes instead of bundles.

As a standard, Shopify does not allow you to sell in multiple languages unless you have installed a supported third-party language translation app onto your store.

Without installing a language translation app, changing the placeholder text on the bundle page is a simple alternative. However, you are limited to translating only one language - which is your store's language.

If you don't have a language translation app installed, only two options will appear in the Language drop-down menu at the top of the Translations page:

You can change the placeholder text for your specific language so that customers who speak your language only see the custom labels you created - effectively translating the bundle page.

Therefore, to apply custom labels to replace Bundle Builder's placeholder text:

Step 1: Under Translations > Language, select the second option from the drop-down menu (the name of the language that your default is set to).

Step 2: Write your chosen text in the fields below.

Step 3: Click Save.

By using a language translation app, customers can view your storefront in multiple languages.

The languages available within Bundle Builder are controlled through your Shopify admin Languages settings.

Any languages you have added will show in the drop-down menu in Bundle Builder under Settings > Translations and choosing your 'Language'.

Custom translations must be made to each language manually. To add placeholder text to multiple languages:

Step 1: Under Translations > Language, select the first language option that you are making changes to from the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Write your chosen text in the fields below in that first specific language.

Step 3: Go back to the drop-down menu, and select the second language option.

Step 4: Write your chosen text in the fields below in that second specific language.

Step 5: Continue until all language options have been entered and click Save.

Occasionally, you may want to replace bundle page placeholder text with custom labels that apply to all languages, regardless of which language your store is set to. This might apply to a trademarked piece of text or a product name that stays consistent through all languages.

To make these master changes, Bundle Builder uses your store's Default language. This is the language applied to the theme if your customer's preferred language isn't available.

Your default language can be found within your Shopify admin under Settings > Store languages.

When you make changes to the Default language option in Translations, we call these master changes. This is because master changes are applied to all languages added to your store.

This means if you want to change the word bundle to gift box for all available languages, you would do this by changing the Default (master) language.

To make master changes:

Step 1: Go to Translations.

Step 2: Click the Language drop-down menu and select Default.

Step 3: Write your chosen master text in the relevant fields.

Step 4: Click Save.

Master changes made by customizing the Default language option will apply to all available languages unless a change has also been made to the same placeholder text in another language. In that scenario, the second language will overwrite the Default translation for that specific audience.

Example broken down into steps:

Step 1: Under Translations > Languages, select Default from the drop-down menu.

Step 2: Go to the field under the placeholder text which says 'Bundles'

Step 3: Enter 'Sweets'. (This changes the master text to sweets for all languages.)

Step 4: Go back to the drop-down menu and select French (fr).

Step 5: Go to the field under the placeholder text which says 'Bundles'.

Step 6: Enter 'Bonbons'. (This overrides the Default master text for French only).

Step 7: Click Save.
