Question: Why are my bundle products displaying incorrect/inconsistent inventory numbers?
Answer: When Bundle Builder creates products for your bundles in Shopify, these are called dummy products. Dummy products contain data that isn't reflective of the actual data. The data is essentially a placeholder.
This placeholder data is called dummy data and it's needed for bundles to function correctly. Therefore, it's normal for inventory numbers and other information on your bundle pages to appear incorrect or inconsistent.
Dummy data should be ignored. Only the inventory numbers for individual products should be used as a reference.
Important: You should never edit or delete dummy data, even if it appears wrong. The data may appear random but it's done so by design by the app. Changing dummy data may cause irreversible issues with your bundles, which may result in you needing to create a new bundle.
What is dummy data?
Data associated with dummy products - or dummy data - acts as a placeholder for the data within your bundle products. The inventory numbers associated with a bundle product are generated every time a customer interacts with the bundle.
These figures don’t accurately reflect your actual inventory - they're just indicative of the potential number of bundles available at any moment in time. It's important not to alter or remove dummy data or this can cause your bundles to stop working correctly.
Bundle Builder will track your inventory at a product level if you've enabled tracking for your inventory quantities. The app will automatically deduct inventory following a purchase, and if the order is returned or canceled, the inventory will be added back to the product.
