Products - Introduction
The second stage in the bundle creation process involves setting up your products.
Depending on whether you chose a Single page or Multi-step bundle type, the steps for adding products are a little different. This guide covers both types, so please ensure you review the steps relevant to the bundle structure you selected in the initial setup stage.
After adding products, you can then add variants if needed and define which products are required to be selected by the customer in order to complete a bundle.
By using this guide, you'll learn:
- How to add products to Single page bundles
- How to add products to Multi-step bundles
- How to add variants
- How to add required products
Important: Do not use a third-party service to house product variants (e.g. Printful). Bundle Builder won't function without access to the correct product information within your Shopify admin.

A step-by-step guide
Adding products to a Single page bundle
You can add products individually (bulk additions are possible) or import a collection. We'll explain the process for each below.
Adding individual products
To manually add individual products:
Step 1: Click Add products.
Step 2: Check the box next to each item you want to add to the bundle.
Step 3: Click Add.
Importing a collection
To import products to your bundle in bulk from a collection:
Step 1: Click the Import products from collection button.
Step 2: Check the box next to the collection name.
Step 3: Click Add.
Step 4: Remove individual collection items. (optional)
Step 5: Add variants. (optional)
Note: This is a one-time import. Any future changes to the products in the collection will not be carried over to the bundle. For example, if you remove or add items to the collection, the items in your bundle will not change. However, you can manually add or remove individual items at any time.
Adding products to a Multi-step bundle
Multi-step bundles allow you to add multiple steps (or sections), to your bundle. Each step normally contains unique products - giving you more control and adding an extra layer to the bundling experience.
You can place one or more products into a bundle section. The workflow is similar to Single page bundle creation, but you will first have to set up your bundle steps.
This takes a bit of planning. For example, you should think about which products you're going to offer at each step. Not sure how to structure a multi-step bundle? Click here to learn more.
To add your products:
Step 1: Click Add step.
Step 2: Enter the step name and description.
Step 3: Add products or import a collection.
Step 4: Click Save section.
Step 5: Repeat until all steps have been created and all products added.

Adding variants
If a product has variants, you can add the variants to the bundle (the process is the same for both Single page and Multiple section bundles). Bundle Builder will display your variants as separate items in the bundle. To add variants:
Step 1: Locate the product that has variants.
Step 2: Click the Add a variant link. A popup window displays the available variants for that item.
Step 3: Check the box next to each variant you want to place inside the bundle.
Step 4: Click Add. (You can also click X to remove a variant.)
Step 5: Repeat steps to add more product variants.
Adding required products
Every bundle you create - regardless of the bundle type - can contain a combination of optional and required products.
Optional: The customer is free to purchase or ignore the item.
Required: The customer must purchase the minimum quantity of the item/items to buy other products in the bundle. Required products cannot be removed from the customer's cart.
To add a required product:
Step 1: Click the Add required products button.
Step 2: Check the box next to each item you want to add.
Step 3: Click Add.
Note: Take care not to delete an item that is a required product in a bundle. If you delete the required product, your bundle remains visible in the store, but it won't work correctly. Bundle Builder sends an email notification if you delete a bundle item that is a required product.
Optional steps when adding required items
Step 4: Repeat and add more required items.
Step 5: Add variants
Step 6: Use the plus and minus icons to increase or decrease the minimum required quantity.
Step 7: Tick/untick the Show base price box to display the base price. The base price is the total price of the required product in the bundle minus any fixed discount you have applied.
Improving the display of required products
If you add a required product, we suggest that you complete this extra step after creating the bundle. This can greatly improve the visual display of your bundle.
Step 1: Go to Bundle Builder's Settings
Step 2: Select Design.
Step 3: Ensure Show bundle requirements in modal is checked.
Step 4: Click Save.
