The information on dummy product pages is referred to as dummy data. This data is random and is required for dummy product pages to function correctly. It's not reflective of real bundle data and does not negatively impact customer orders. Please don't edit the data, even if it appears incorrect.

Dummy products

On the Shopify platform, every product has its own respective Product page. Product pages are located within the Products section via your Shopify admin dashboard.

Bundles have their own product pages too. However, Bundle Builder creates these pages automatically, which are classed as dummy products. Dummy products are essentially placeholders and the data on these product pages does not accurately reflect the real bundle products.

A dummy product page and its data are essential and must exist. This is because:

  • It allows your bundle to show up in search results.

  • It allows you to share the bundle in newsletters and on social media.

  • It allows you to display your bundle as part of a Collection.

Warning: Do not alter the data on your dummy product pages. Any changes you make can disturb the functionality of the app.

Finding dummy product pages

Dummy product pages can be accessed by selecting the respective dummy product on your Shopify Admin dashboard under Products.

Dummy products are named the same as your bundles. They will also be listed as a Custom Bundle product type which is exclusive to Bundle Builder.

Note: You can filter by Product type to help speed up your search if you have lots of products. Click here for a list of your Custom Bundles.

To view a dummy product page, select the dummy product. Dummy product pages look like normal product pages and include a note in the description box to remind you not to not to delete or alter the data on this page.

Why dummy page data appears incorrect

While dummy product pages look like any other product page, you will notice that some data on this page - mainly numerical figures - may appear incorrect. This is called dummy data, which consists of data within the following sections of the dummy product page:

  • Pricing

  • Inventory

  • Shipping

  • Variants

Dummy data appears incorrect because the numbers associated with the bundle product are generated every time a customer interacts with it. They don’t accurately reflect your actual inventory - just the potential available number of bundles at any moment in time.

While it may be natural to want to edit this data to make it 'correct', it does not accurately reflect the bundle's real data and must not be altered.

Data on the dummy product page is random. But don't worry - even if the data on your dummy product page appears incorrect, this doesn't mean the data on your bundles is incorrect.

The figures present on this page are replaced with the correct data when the customer uses the bundle page.

The real bundle product data - such as the shipping price, inventory numbers, or total price - can only be edited through the app. As long as the data is correct within Apps > Bundle Builder > Bundles, your bundles will function successfully regardless of what the dummy data says.

Why is dummy data important?

Do not delete the dummy product or alter its data, even if it appears incorrect. It must exist and be left alone for the app to function correctly.

Shopify requires this dummy data to be present for each dummy product. Therefore, it is essential that you do not make modifications to this data on the dummy product page, as the correct price will always be applied to the bundle page.
