You can edit variant prefixes by going to Bundles, selecting the bundle, then navigating to the Shipping & Tax tab. On this page, you'll see a field where you can enter a custom Variant prefix.

What's a variant prefix?

When a customer picks products for a bundle they essentially create a bundle configuration. In other words, they create a specific combination of products available from the bundle page. Bundle configurations are automatically assigned a unique identification number.

To help keep track of these specific bundle configurations, these identification numbers are preceded by variant prefixes - which you can edit to suit your store.

Editing variant prefixes

The variant prefix precedes the bundle configuration number. This is generally used as a reference number that the customer can quote. For example, if they need to make a return.

To edit the prefix go to Bundles and select the bundle that you would like to edit.

Click the Shipping & Tax tab, enter your Variant prefix and click Save.

You may wish to edit your variant prefix to specify what type of bundle product you are selling.

Examples:

  • Bundle #001

  • Gift Box #001

  • Spa Package #001

  • Pick 'N Mix Bag #001

Locating auto-generated variants

Every time a customer puts a new bundle configuration into their cart, Bundle Builder will automatically generate a variant to represent the configuration of that customer's bundle.

Locating auto-generated variants for 'Legacy - Single SKU' bundles

Note. This guide is only for those using 'Legacy - Single SKU' bundles. If you're using this legacy option, we'd recommend considering our 'Standard' bundle type.

For 'Legacy - Single SKU' bundles, these variants can be found on the bundle's dummy product page within your Shopify Admin dashboard.

To locate the auto-generated variants for Single SKU bundles, go to Products and select the dummy product that represents your bundle (it will have the same name as your bundle).

Scroll to Variants.

It's important to note that these bundle variants do not function like order numbers - variants do not represent a specific customer's bundle, but instead they represent the specific combination of products within the bundle.β€Œ

As a result, if multiple customers add exactly the same products to their bundle, they can share the same bundle variant.

Customers with the same bundle configurations can share the same bundle variant.

Locating auto-generated variants for 'Legacy - Separate SKU' bundles

You will find the bundle variant prefix and the auto-generated configuration ID on an order page as shown below:
